stick meat

Hot Stick Meat makes for a great spicy appetizer.  Over the Valentines Day holiday, we had a few friends over for a bunch of appetizers and a few filets.  We made Shrimp on the Barbie, asparagus, Bacon Wrapped Peppers Stuffed with Cheese, and a few filets in case our eyes weren’t really bigger than our stomach.  Watch for the Stuffed Peppers recipe soon!

  • 1 pound filet
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 bamboo skewers

Soak the bamboo skewers in water for an hour.  Cut the filet into 1 inch cubes.  Grind up the bouillon cubes into powder with a spoon.  If you can find the packets of power, this is easier than crumbling the cubes.  Mix with water to make a paste.  Stir in the cayenne pepper, black pepper and salt.  Add the meat and coat with the mixture.  Let marinate for 2 hours.

Stick Meat 2

Put the beef cubes on the skewer with a small amount of space between them to allow for quicker cooking.  Cook on a high grill for about 15 minutes, turning 1/4 turn at a time.

If this isn’t hot enough for you, you can always sprinkle more cayenne pepper on when you serve them.
